This event commemorates the day that the U. S. Colored Troops left City Point traveling to Texas to take part in what we now know as Juneteenth.  May 25, 1865 was Shove Off Day.  Included will be a Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony performed by USCT reenactors, guest speakers will share the USCT’s stories, and there will be Tours of City Point & Appomattox Plantation.  The commemoration will be held in the area adjacent to the Old City Point Waterfront Park at 1199 Pecan Avenue and free parking will be available there.
