Spend the day at Pamplin Historical Park encountering living history, battlefield tours, artillery demonstrations, author talks & walking tours as you come to know the story of the end of the Petersburg Campaign and end of the Civil War a week later.  At 4:40 pm on April 2, 1865, 14,000 Union soldiers moved toward the Confederate fortifications and about an hour later the American flag was flying, Richmond was being evacuated, and one week later Gen. Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House.  There will be guided walking tours of the Breakthrough Battlefield, you will engage civilians at Tudor Hall, you will see artillery and learn about different types of ammunition. Meet authors Hampton Newsome & Michael C. Hardy who will discuss their recent books.

All special added events are included with general admission.
