This driving tour at Petersburg National Battlefield will explain tactics and how cannons and mortars were used extensively throughout the Siege of Petersburg. You will also see how they were fired. The program begins at the PNB Eastern Front Visitor Center and then you will proceed along the Eastern Front Road to Stop 3 for a Cannon Demonstration, Stop 5 for a discussion of The Use of Artillery at Fort Stedman, and Stop 7 for a discussion of the Artillery’s Role at the Battle of the Crater.
