Memorial Day at Pamplin Historical Park will include a full day of special commemorative events for the whole family. Included will be demonstrations of Civil War Camp Life & Drill Presentations; Perspectives on Memorial Day from a present, active-duty military member; a Special Ceremony will include the Presentation of Colors, remarks from Pamplin Park’s Director, Colin Romanick; a Cannon Fire Salute and the Playing of TAPS. In the afternoon, there will be a program of Music that Moves the Military, and Bill Stallings will talk about the Importance of Military Music on the Parade Ground and in Battle. Visitors can watch the film War So Terrible in the Battlefield Center. Local Artist Henry Kidd will have a display of his artwork, including his very unique Stretcher Art. All of the special programs will be accessible with the Park’s regular admission. Active Duty Military Members will be admitted for FREE.
