Did you know June is Dairy Month? Plan a visit to Richlands Dairy Farm & Creamery to see first hand how they take care of the cows and land, and then enjoy fresh milk and ice cream at the Creamery. Spend the day at the dairy browsing the educational booths and farm tours. Take the one hour walking tour to learn about how the cows and calves spend their time. During the farm tour you will have the opportunity to experience the cow feed sensory station, hand-milk a cow, and pet the calves.

Relax on the hayride that travels through the barn yard, crop land, and past two picturesque ponds as it makes its 20-30 minute loop through the dairy farm.

Hungry for lunch? Try the menu items at Richlands Creamery or from one of the local food trucks who will be in attendance.

On Saturday and Sunday afternoons, from 1-4pm, enjoy live music at the farm performed by Ben Dalton. At the end of the day, relax near Richlands Creamery’s kid’s play area, browse the craft vendors selling their homemade goods, and, of course, enjoy some of the area’s best ice cream!

Since the mid-1700’s, the Jones’ family has been operating a beautiful 800-acre dairy farm and creamery in western Dinwiddie County. The fresh from the cow milk and ice cream is available in the farm’s creamery. How can you possibly pass by this landmark without stopping for a delicious ice-cream in a freshly made waffle cone? Their mission and vision are summed up in “Honest to Goodness Dairy”.  What does that mean? They are transparent in their operation, taking care of their cows with the highest of standards, installing large windows for visitors to look through to the milk plant, conducting tours of the farm so that everyone can see exactly what they are doing. Not only that, a very important part of their mission is giving back to their community as they commit to giving away one gallon of milk to a needy family or to a food bank for every 10 that they sell. Commendable business practices and. oh, my…. the milk and ice-cream are AMAZING!  And you can order country style delicious food for lunch and dinner. Be sure to try it!

This is a VA farm that’s all about using Virginia products.
