The History and Preservation of Fort Fisher

Join us on a SUNSET WALKING TOUR – a free & family-friendly program discussing historic places and events related to the Petersburg Campaign of the Civil War.

Earthworks are a physical reminder of the Civil War. Discover what earthworks reveal about military engineers and the lives of common soldiers at Fort Fisher. Learn about the ongoing efforts of park staff and volunteers to preserve the largest earthen fort at Petersburg National Battlefield.

All programs are free and open to the public. Programs are 60-90 minutes and require a small amount of walking. Drinking water and comfortable shoes are recommended. All programs are subject to cancellation due to weather or other issues. Check Petersburg National Battlefield’s Facebook page for updates (@PetersburgNPS).
