Presented by The Battersea Foundation

This Holiday Homes Tour will feature a broad, eclectic collection of amazing art as you make your way through Historic Petersburg and its architecturally significant homes and businesses decorated for the holidays. This tour will feature art by Devon Rodriguez, the “Subway Sketcher”, Grandma Moses, Louis Comfort Tiffany, Frank Sinatra, Francoise Gilot, Napoleon’s Guards and many more. The Old Towne portion of the tour is walkable; however, trolleys will be running throughout the afternoon for your convenience. Parking is available behind the Petersburg Public Library at Washington & Market Streets and it is suggested that you begin your tour in the Library Atrium where you will see a large and very unique, award-winning mosaic that visually presents the history of Petersburg, created by Cindy Haynie of Appomattox Tile Art. You are invited to tour Appomattox Tile Art, located on W. Bank St. in a 1918 Beaux Arts building that was once a Ford Model-A assembly plant. From here art can be found in every direction: at the beautiful 1792 Strawberry Hill; a unique High Street rowhouse (art by Frank Sinatra, the mother of Picasso’s children; the Trapezium House used recently as an artist’s studio;, Devon Rodriguez’s works at Historic Battersea; the architectural detail in the historic 1915 Hotel Petersburg (marble columns, 15′ ceilings, ornamental plaster); the 15 Tiffany windows at Blandford Church and the amazing funerary art in the surrounding public cemetery; St. Paul’s Episcopal church; works by Grandma Moses and Napoleon’s Guards at the McIlwaine House; Historic Farmers Bank, one of the oldest bank buildings in the U. S. and on a lot purchased from Robert Bolling; Centre Hill, a Bolling family home, and much more. Tickets are available on Eventbrite or (804) 732-9882.
