October Friday for the Arts! Features Three Great New Displays of Art and Three Music Venues
Though the pandemic still rages, Petersburg’s October 2020 Friday for the Arts! will bring us music, art, fun activities, food, new beers, and abundant good spirits. There will be music in three performing arts venues, and great exhibits at the Petersburg Area Art League and at the 7 Moons Market, in Old Market Square.
For a change, the weather should be great, with mild temperatures and very little chance of rain.
VISUAL ARTS: The Art League will open two new exhibits: mixed-media work by Jennifer Amps downstairs in the Main Gallery, and work by thirteen-year-old Tanaya Gore upstairs in the Members Gallery. Nearby, around the Farmer’s Market in Old Market Square, the 7 Moons Market will return, with work by crafters, artisans, and makers. This month, look for food trucks at the Market, including Doobie Lou’s, The Beau Box, & OG Ribs & BBQ. The 7 Moons Market, a part of Petersburg’s Friday for the Arts! for the fourth straight month, is sponsored by Old Towne Studio 7 and the River Street Market.
MUSIC: U&I Plus Latin Band will perform at Old Towne Square (sponsored by Main Street Petersburg, with the support of the City of Petersburg). The Sinatra-style crooner Joe LaLuna will be at Maria’s, and Bank Streeet Project (rock, country, blues) in Old Market Square, as part of the 7 Moons Market.. Music this month from five-thirty to nine!
Friday for the Arts! is Petersburg’s monthly celebration of the arts. This month marks the beginning of the event’s eighteenth year. Friday for the Arts! is now a program of Main Street Petersburg.
