Nestled in the heart of historic Old Towne Petersburg is a deli with a rich and vibrant history: Longstreet’s. Described by the owner, Frank Takacs as “high-quality casual”, Longstreet’s has something for everyone. Many patrons come for a quiet lunch and spend the afternoon shopping and sightseeing in the historic district.
But don’t think that Longstreet’s is just a spot for a quiet bite – come evening, Longstreet’s becomes an exciting hub of vibrant people out on the town, who gather at the famous bar and partake of the enormous variety of beers and spirits that Longstreet’s has to offer. Often, there is live music or karaoke to be heard. Regardless, the establishment always reverberates with the laughter and friendly conversation of its guests.
Longstreet’s food is local cuisine par excellence, combining deli-style dishes with traditional American fare. Many of their ingredients are locally produced, from sources as diverse as Adams Acres to the herb garden in Frank’s backyard. The menu has been refined over 13 years based on a steady stream of customer feedback, says Frank, and they’re still striving to provide even greater satisfaction to their patrons.
