On April 25, 1781, The Battle of Blandford or (Blanford), also known as the Battle of Petersburg, took place and this walking tour 241 years later will tell you about the Revolutionary War fighting here. There were 2300 British regulars led by Brigadier General William Phillips who is buried in Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg. The presence of British troops in the Petersburg area had been growing in the months leading up to this battle, but Petersburg was General Phillips’ target.
