A favorite regional event, you can enjoy the beauty of the Appomattox River in a 10-mile Race, a Leisure Paddle, or a 2-mile Guided Paddle – Everyone is invited to enjoy the river as you wind through beautiful marshy areas where you will see the wildlife. This section of the Appomattox is flatwater and tidal and this year the paddling will be downstream from Pocahontas Island in Petersburg to the Hopewell Marina (105 Riverside Ave., Hopewell). Shuttles will transport paddlers to & from parking areas, morning snacks & lunch will be provided, and you get a t-shirt and a time wristband. Registration begins at 7 am at Rotary Park on Pocahontas Island – 149 Rolfe St, Petersburg), the Leisure Paddle starts at 9 am, the Race starts at 10 am, the Guided 2-mile Paddle starts at 11 am (all gear & equipment included). Lunch will be served at Noon and shuttles will run from Hopewell back to Pocahontas Island from 12:30 – 1:30. Discounts provided for 17 & younger, military, 1st responders & educators. Admission includes shuttles, morning snacks, lunch, T-shirt & time wristband.
